The Dude Abides

Well, we are T+4 days post Kelly's due date now. Our little dude must be a pretty mellow guy because he's staying put for the time being. Kel has fortunately not been in too much pain over the last week, but she definitely has been having her share of normal pregnancy pains...unfortunately, they are not contraction pains. We went swimming today because it was so hot and that helps her relax a little more. According to our doctor, he seems like a pretty cool customer based on his heartbeat and the way Kelly is feeling so we are hoping he will continue that streak of "Dude-like" composure...we'll see.

Here are some pictures of Kel you may not have seen; and for those who are interested, I put a link to our Picasa photo album over on the right of the page. You can click the link and view all of our albums any time.

Fun Facts:
  • According to the doctor, they typically do not let women go more than a week over the due date before inducing so we will definitely probably have a July baby.
  • He is now going to be a Leo (if you are a hippie and care about ancient Pagan stuff like that).
  • Last night Kelly had some major pains that forced her to get up and walk up and down the hall a few times...not contractions...I fell right back asleep.

Peter -- my first child was two weeks late, nine pounds six ounces. I was in labor for decades... well, that's probably an exaggeration. But it was a long time. They would not give me drugs.

On August 3, it will have been 23 years since that particular torture took place. The kid is now 6'1" and he scored 1520 on the SAT, back in high school, so apparently neither the extended pregnancy, nor the lengthy labor, nor the screaming and swearing, caused any lasting damage. To him.
