The Dude Abides

Well, we are T+4 days post Kelly's due date now. Our little dude must be a pretty mellow guy because he's staying put for the time being. Kel has fortunately not been in too much pain over the last week, but she definitely has been having her share of normal pregnancy pains...unfortunately, they are not contraction pains. We went swimming today because it was so hot and that helps her relax a little more. According to our doctor, he seems like a pretty cool customer based on his heartbeat and the way Kelly is feeling so we are hoping he will continue that streak of "Dude-like" composure...we'll see.

Here are some pictures of Kel you may not have seen; and for those who are interested, I put a link to our Picasa photo album over on the right of the page. You can click the link and view all of our albums any time.

Fun Facts:
  • According to the doctor, they typically do not let women go more than a week over the due date before inducing so we will definitely probably have a July baby.
  • He is now going to be a Leo (if you are a hippie and care about ancient Pagan stuff like that).
  • Last night Kelly had some major pains that forced her to get up and walk up and down the hall a few times...not contractions...I fell right back asleep.

The Kid Stays in the Picture

So we have decided to start a blog. This will mainly be for family and friends who want to stay up-to-date on our family (mainly our baby-to-be). So please stop by any time! Bookmark us, link to us, subscribe to us, and comment. I'll try to post pictures, and video as much as possible.

I'm posting this just as Kelly is about to go to sleep hoping, as she has over the past few weeks, that she will wake up in labor. She has been great throughout the entire pregnancy so far, but these last couple weeks have been tough. Her back hurts, and it's getting harder for her to move around. I guess that's what happens when you go from this:

to this:

In 9 months.

But she's off work now and sitting at home all day, so now we continue to play the waiting game. Soon I will be setting the new Guinness record for "most pictures taken of a baby in the first hour of life" providing the camera batteries remain charged (which incidentally is my only pre-baby job). We are both really excited and nervous and we can't wait to meet our son.

Fun Facts:
  • Kelly is dilated 2cm and effaced 70% right now.
  • There is a salad dressing from a place in Studio City that supposedly helps induce labor. (Update: It doesn't work)
  • Peter's overnight hospital bag is still not packed.
  • Our baby does not have a name yet (although we have narrowed it down to 3 choices)
